Owls

So like, why Owls?

I mean, cmon have you ever looked at an owl?
And then another owl?
And then another one?
They can do literally everything, be cute, be majestic, be silly, be creepy, be beautiful, it's an all in one.
They have excellent hearing, down to being able to hear the heartbeat of their prey and can move their head and neck to unglodly angles. How can someone look at an owl and not fall in love?

It's the Legend of the Guardians series' fault. I am obsessed with owls the same way that a Warrior Cats kid is obsessed with cats. Except I never grew out of it.
Owls give me a truly unrivaled amount of euphoria and I don't know why.

So by now I have simply accepted the fact that I will forever be extremely excited about seeing anything vaguely resembling an owl, my friends thinking of me whenever they see an owl, then informing me of that, which in turn makes me really happy again,
and like, isn't that a good thing?
It makes me happy and that is enough.

So here are my favourite owl species :3

The Western Barn Owl (Tyto Alba)

The first owl I fell in love with and after the Eurasian Eagle Owl probably the most known one. They give me extreme cuteness aggression.
Also, funfact: In german, the western barn owl is called "Schleiereule".
The family that the owl belongs to, is also called "Schleiereule".
The genus that the family belongs to, is also called "Schleiereule".
No clue which genius thought those really unique names up, but ey, I ain't complaining.
Anyhoot, the barn owl is by far my favourite owl, it's the species of the main character Soren in Legend of the Guardians and overall i just find them to be immaculate creatures.

The Greyish Eagle Owl (Bubo cinerascens)

Another very cool owl, I find eagle owls in general to be really cool, mainly cus of the ear tufts and eye coloration some have.
They also tend to get a bit bigger than the average owl and have cool intricate feather patterns. The Greyish Eagle Owl thanks to their greyish feathers is also very good with hiding in plain sight and on rocky terrain. They're one of the newer species of owls i discovered and i immeadiatly made a character based on them. Two, actually. Although they are twins. And I haven't drawn them yet.
